Abstract:
This paper explores the intersection of corporate governance and AI-driven mechanisms, with a focus on how artificial intelligence can enhance the effectiveness of governance practices. By analyzing the integration of AI in corporate decision-making, risk management, and transparency, we argue that AI tools have the potential to revolutionize governance structures by improving efficiency, accuracy, and responsiveness. Through a comparative analysis, we examine the regulatory frameworks governing corporate governance and AI in two distinct jurisdictions: Portugal and Brazil. Both countries have developed unique approaches to regulation, with Portugal emphasizing robust data protection and corporate transparency, while Brazil has focused on regulatory reforms aimed at promoting innovation in AI while ensuring accountability. This paper highlights the opportunities and challenges posed by these regulatory environments and offers recommendations on how both nations can align AI-driven governance with ethical, legal, and economic considerations to foster a more effective, transparent, and sustainable corporate landscape.
