Abstract:
Modern digital technologies have a strong impact on the way we live and work, which is why they are called disruptive in the business context. Under their influence, there are changes in traditional business models in various areas, due to which policymakers face numerous challenges, including new forms of cybercrime. Consequently, a particular challenge is to find the best solutions for decision-making that will lead to the realization of benefits or, at the very least, the mitigation of potential negative effects. With that in mind, the aim of this paper is to explore the dual nature of the economic implications of these technologies: the stimulation of innovation on the one hand, and criminal activities on the other. Through analysis of key disruptive technologies, as well as through case studies and examples, conclusive findings are drawn that offer policymakers, practitioners and academic researchers insights into the nature of impacts, highlighting the necessity of adapting to change and implementing innovations that foster cyber resilience and promote sustainable growth.
