Abstract:

The dynamic global economic landscape, influenced by geopolitical upheavals, demands a re-evaluation of regional competitiveness. This study revisits the competitiveness of Central and Eastern European regions, focusing on the Visegrad Four and the Baltic Group States, using the latest data and integrating the impacts of recent global events. By employing multi-criteria indicators such as the Global Competitiveness Index, World Competitiveness Index, Business Confidence Index, and single-criteria measures like Revealed Comparative Advantage, the research offers a nuanced understanding of regional strengths and vulnerabilities. Additionally, a composite competitiveness index is introduced, reflecting the interplay of innovation, governance, and external trade dependencies. The findings reveal how regional and global challenges redefine the competitive landscape, highlighting policy imperatives for enhancing resilience.
