Abstract:

The Sustainable Development Goals and the adoption of them on central and local levels have been seen as very important, in order to fulfill the obligations of Albania for the Agenda 2030. Albania has signed the Agreement and has started work on its fulfillment. Albania has constituted a Parliamentary Sub-Commission for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which is monitoring the implementation of these goals at the government and local level.
The paper will analyse the level of adopted SDGs, the problems, the threats for the future, the impact of them on the government and community, as well as the opportunities and obstacles for achieving them. The study will give a full picture of SDGs in Albania and compare it with the other six Western Balkan Countries. The implementation of SDGs will increase the awareness of the central government and municipalities toward drafting the budgets at each level. The implementation of SDGs requires enough budget at all Ministries and Municipalities, which will impact the allocation and reallocation of funds.
Hence, the paper will discuss the importance of fastening the adoption of SDGs from the local level toward the central one, because it is necessary to have sustainable development at the local level, in order to achieve sustainable growth at the national level
