Abstract:
The idea for this paper is based on the relationship between a staving population and huge amounts of wasted food. The scarcity of resources for production, population growth, the growing number of hungry people and other prerequisites requires the adoption of timely and adequate social, economic, environmental and governmental decisions. All of them are relevant to the formation of the so-called ‘price’ of food. Its vital importance is a determining factor for the independence of the food system of countries - a guarantor of achieving food security. In search of opportunities to minimize the amounts of wasted food, their correct conceptual characterization is necessary - for example, food waste and others. Reducing the amount of waste requires optimizing production and activities, respectively, and costs of food production.
