Abstract:
Demographic trends and increasing urbanization suggest an increase in demand and an increase in the construction of buildings and facilities, suggesting that energy needs and material use for the construction sector will increase by 50% by 2060. According to research, around 75% of the EU's building stock is energy inefficient, with 75% of the total energy consumed for heating and cooling and 25% for hot water and electricity. Improving the condition of the building stock can be a key factor in creating sustainable cities that contribute to sustainable development an d a circular economy
