Abstract:
This paper presents preliminary findings from a survey conducted among the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) students regarding their volunteering activities. The main objective is focused on creating a volunteer culture, supporting the initiation of volunteer projects during university studies and involving young people in these types of activities. The paper reviews the demographic characteristics of students and attempts to discover the influence of family background on their participation in volunteering activities. It analyzes the relationships between income level, parental education, location, religion, possible good role models (friends, relatives, classmates) and participation in volunteer activities.
