Abstract:
Learning and teaching processes and methods can change in special circumstances, as was the COVID-19 pandemic. Such changes can be disruptive and affect all participants, including student behaviour and performance, possibly even after the teaching process and methods return to the same or similar mode. To investigate whether and how student behaviour related to online teaching resources changed after the pandemic and online classes, learning analytics of part of student online activity related to course materials in the Learning ManΒ¬agement System was performed at a graduate-level course for the last academic year before pandemic (2019/2020), and two consecutive academic years after pandemic (2022/2023 and 2023/2024). The results show that online activity didnβt return to levels before the pandemic. Student views increased in general but also decreased for lecture materials. When compared with grades, the higher percentage of students after the return of in-person classes passed the course, but they had lower grades than those who attended the course before the pandemic. Based on the results, further research will be carried out to connect specific grading elements and online activity with the purpose of improving student results.
