Abstract:
The scope of this paper is to investigate whether the Customs clearance process can affect unemployment and Foreign Direct Investments in Greece. The considered variables are the βLogistics performance index: Efficiency of customs clearance process (1=low to 5=high)β, the national estimate of the total unemployment rate, the net inflows of FDI (measured in current $ and as % of GDP), and other development and governance indicators from the World Bank. In this work, for the extraction of the results, the econometric design of the panel VAR approach, where the βLogistics performance index: Efficiency of customs clearance process (1=low to 5=high)β is the considered dependent variable and the other variables are the independent variables, while the time span is from 2000 to 2021. The finding from this study is that the improvement of the Customs clearance process can reduce unemployment in Greece and attract foreign direct investments.
