Abstract:

For professionals to effectively prepare for the challenges ahead, it is essential to understand how Artificial Intelligence is changing various professions. The study supports that, despite the value of technical skills, such as proficiency in digital tools and the ability to analyse data, interpersonal skills, such as flexibility, critical thinking, and teamwork, also play a key role in the transformation that is taking place. The article emphasises the importance of continuous training and the development of a flexible and innovative professional profile, capable of adapting quickly to change. By outlining these competences, the study aims to guide professionals and companies to prepare for the demands of a scenario in which AI redefines professional processes, functions, and careers. The main aim of this article is to investigate how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is significantly changing the dynamics of professions in various sectors and to examine the skills needed for professionals to thrive in a labour market increasingly affected by AI. The research contributes with a systematic review of the literature to identify the competences and capabilities related to the adoption of Artificial Intelligence. To this end, the study resorted to Scopus data, enabling an exploratory analysis of the concepts relevant to this theme, using the terms β€˜skills’ and β€˜digital age’, which resulted in the identification of 799 publications. The study aims to answer the following research questions: (i) What interpersonal skills and abilities are best suited to professionals seeking to adapt to AI implementations? (ii) What strategies are companies using in the process of retraining and updating skills to keep their workforce competitive in the AI age? The impact and relevance of the topic under investigation can be extended through research, with the rapid proliferation of the implementation of Artificial Intelligence and advances in virtual world technologies and platforms.
