Abstract:
Strategic organizational change initiatives, such as the implementa¬tion of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, are pivotal tools of success in modern business environments. However, informal communication dynamics within organizations, particularly rumor or grapevine, can significantly influ¬ence the perception of project success. This study explores the relationship between organizational rumor and ERP project success, focusing on dimensions such as system quality, information quality, and stakeholder satisfaction. The study utilizes a case study approach within a large aviation company, where data was collected from the project team members via a structured survey. The survey is designed as a tool to help examine how different classifications of rumors impact ERP success factors. Statistical methods, including factor analysis and regression, were used to analyze the relationship between rumor dimensions and perceived project outcomes. Findings indicate that while the overall influence of rumors on ERP project success is limited, certain rumor dimensions, such as those related to organizational performance, exhibit a measurable impact. Hypothesis testing and results highlight the minimal role of rumors in determining ERP success compared to other organizational and managerial factors.
This research contributes to further understanding of the role informal com¬munication plays during strategic organizational changes. While addressing this, it provides valuable insights for managers and project teams to enhance communication strategies during ERP implementations
