Abstract

The scope of the paper is to present the results of research related to the impact of
foreign direct investments on the development of innovation capacities. The main premise of
the work is that one segment of macroeconomic growth is linked to innovation efforts. A serious
limitation of competitiveness in the Western Balkan countries are underdeveloped institutional
and physical infrastructure, as well as a limited potential for innovation. Through direct foreign
investment, it is possible to develop an integral innovation-oriented management system.
