Abstract: Construction activities are among the main contributors to the greenhouse effect, high consumption of natural resources, production of huge amounts of waste and energy consumption during the life cycle of buildings, suggesting that the study of these activities is of utmost imยญportance. Ensuring a balance between economic development, human well-being and environmental needs is a major challenge of our time in the context of the circular economy. The author of this paper aims to analyze the existing knowledge and methodologies for the certification of sustainยญable buildings and to consider the possibilities for an integrated assessment of their sustainability throughout their life cycle.
