Biography

Prof. Dr. Klodiana GORICA is a Full Professor at the University of Tirana, Faculty of Economy Department of Marketing and Tourism in Albania.

She has good skills in research and projects. She is the Coordinator of the BLUEWBC project for the University of Tirana (Sustainable Development of BLUE Economies through higher education and Innovation in Western Balkan Countries (https://www.bluewbc.eu/). Even as part of entrepreneurship women’s associations (as part of WECA Women Economic Chamber in Albania), her role has been active in increasing the skills and capacities of CSOs. So, she is and CEO/Executive Director of the Institute for Sustainable Development, Environment and Tourism (www.inset.al). As the National Contact Point for Albania in the European Institute of Innovation and Technology EIT Horizon Europe to Albanian Academy of Science, she has been nominated even with a tourism award in the Balkan region for 2021 as Hero for Tourism

 For decades she has created a wide network, following with ‘Knowledge and Innovation Communities’ (KICs) to bring together businesses (large corporates and SMEs, including start-ups), research centers, and higher education institutions as partners, which has allowed her to create a pan-European network and carry out a whole range of activities that cover the entire innovation chain – including training and education programmes, reinforcing the journey from research to the market, innovation projects as well as business incubators.

 Her field of interest is related to sustainable tourism as well as culture and heritage. So, she is a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee, UNESCO Chair on Threats to Cultural Heritage and Cultural Heritage-related Activities (TCHER). As an expert in tourism (marketing, strategies and politics for sustainable tourism) and entrepreneurial marketing, she has been working with UNWTO, UNDP, World Bank, PAPRAC, IREK, WTO, WTTC, GSTC, GRSME, etc.

Author and coauthor in different scientific books and monographs. Is involved in international initiatives, forums and projects, not only expert but serving as a Guest speaker, creating networks for Balkan and European Sustainable Tourism, monitoring, creating, and managing round tables and forums; member of editorial board/research committee/keynote speaker in international journals and conferences, and international experiences in training and teaching since 1997 in universities abroad.
